Attorneys
Having been engaged in private legal practice with a small law firm for over twenty-two years, primarily as a transactional attorney, Leo Dehler has developed experience and expertise in a wide range of estate, business and tax planning areas. Since 1980 his law practice has been primarily in the areas of:
- tax, trust, estate and financial planning including planning, drafting and implementing complex wills and trusts, charitable giving instruments, and retirement plans; and
- closely held business organization (including Corporations, Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships, and Limited and General Partnerships), development, financing, mergers, sale and acquisitions; and
- commercial real estate purchase, sale and leasing.
As General Counsel for the Catholic Community Foundation in The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis (CCF) Leo Dehler played a key role in the planning, implementation, and development of CCF. He prepared the organizational documents and sample planned giving documents, obtained public charity and community foundation qualification with the Internal Revenue Service, participated in the development of planned giving, endowment and related policies, prepared necessary donor disclosure documents, and met with major donors.
Leo Dehler has excellent negotiation and drafting skills including negotiation and drafting commercial lease agreements, option agreements, real estate purchase and sale agreements, business sale and acquisition agreements, OEM agreements, patent license agreements, marketing agreements, and other commercial contracts.
Leo Dehler has lectured extensively to professional and community groups on estate and tax planning and non-profit organization.
